Join Pickering Creek Audubon Center naturalists for Monarch butterfly tagging on two dates in September. Witness the incredible migration of the monarch while exploring the trails on the 410-acre wildlife sanctuary. Participate in the University of Kansas’s widespread Monarch Watch tagging program and learn how to protect monarch habitat in your backyard or community! Register by calling 410-822-4903.
Bird Monitoring at Pickering Creek
Do you enjoy watching birds? You are invited to participate in two ongoing volunteer Bird monitoring programs at Pickering Creek. Volunteers of all abilities are welcome.
Third Monday each month, 8:00-10:00 am
Join an experienced birder on the 3rd Monday of each month from 8-10am for e-Bird monitoring along the Center’s trails.

Enjoy watching and recording bird sightings from the comfort of the office on Wednesdays and Thursdays for project Feederwatch starting on November16.
